On 11 June 1988, Maitreya appeared miraculously out of nowhere to a crowd of 6,000 people at a healing meeting, in Nairobi, Kenya. Photographs and reports of the event were carried by CNN, the BBC and other international media. (From an interview with Benjamin Creme, April 2002)
