From the inception of Share International magazine, Benjamin Creme’s Master provided an article every month for nearly 35 years. These were intended to be published not only at the time they were written, but also whenever appropriate according to world circumstances.
Men live in a changing world and must accept it as the norm. For some, these changes will seem threatening and unwelcome while for others, especially the young, they will be welcomed with open arms. Be assured that they are for the best, whatever your stance, for they reflect the needs of the time, and are inevitable and just.
Men should realize that they themselves are creating the conditions whereby these changes impact their lives. When this realism bears fruit, a smoother transition into the new time will become the norm.
Our advice to men is this: hold not to blaming unseen forces but realize your own part in creating the transformations of our time. Be assured that out of these transformations will come an ecstatic joy.

These articles are by a senior member of the Hierarchy of Masters of Wisdom. His name, well-known in esoteric circles, is not yet being revealed. Benjamin Creme, a principal spokesman about the emergence of Maitreya, was in constant telepathic contact with this Master who dictated his articles to him.

On 26 October 2008, while being interviewed for Slovenian television in Munich, Germany, Benjamin Creme received the message reproduced above from Maitreya, the World Teacher, via mental telepathy.

In order to understand the true nature of the Christ it is necessary to see Him as one among equal Sons of God, each endowed with full divine potential, differing only in the degree of manifestation of that divinity.

Maitreya has lived in His retreat high in the Himalaya (at about l7,500 feet) for the last 2,000 years in a ‘body of light’, that is, the resurrected and ascended body of a perfected Master of high degree. At every lecture he gave around the world, and virtually every day of his life, Benjamin Creme was asked numerous questions covering a vast range of topics. We draw on this large recorded resource and present here a selection of previously unpublished answers provided over the years by Mr Creme and his Master.
The encounters described in this selection of letters were confirmed by Benjamin Creme and his Master as having been with Maitreya. They have been chosen to illustrate the great creativity employed by the Masters in gaining the attention of the person involved — often in surprisingly timely manner — in ways that had specific meaning for them though, sometimes, with broader meaning for people generally. (The second letter was previously published in Share International January/February 2009.)
One night as I was sleeping, I saw in my dream a very bright source of light (like the sun). From that source were streaming rays of light which were surrounding me. I felt great joy and peace, but I could neither move or talk. All of a sudden a screen of light opened in front of me. On it a name appeared: “Mahatmat”.
I told this story only to my girlfriend but that image has remained engraved in my heart since then. On reading The Emergence newspaper and on seeing that silhouette representing an angel of the Christ, and after reading certain revelations, I decided to write to ask Benjamin Creme.
On a cold, rainy evening, 10 December 2008, the 60th Anniversary celebration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights took place in Amsterdam. Many people from the peace movement and outsiders were present, and group members of Share International. We held torches and banners saying: “Only sharing and justice will bring lasting peace.” At some point, we all formed the peace sign — with torches and all. Many photographers from the press were present; photos were even taken from a crane above us. One photographer in particular was very interested in the small group of Share Nederland co-workers and also our banner texts. Just then a remarkable man with long, flowing, white hair arrived on a bike. He radiated vitality and power, but we noticed that his teeth were bad. (He only had a few teeth in the lower jaw.)
Members of the organizing committee made speeches, at the end of which the remarkable man, who did not need a microphone to make himself heard, called in a loud voice to the people in the surrounding houses: “Wake up people! Are you awake? Step out and join in.” Then the chant was started led by the organizers: “Love, power and joy.” Somewhat overcome by the cold we probably did not chant loudly enough for his liking. He called out to us: “Louder, louder!” and set an example by chanting with us, which had an energizing effect and we began to chant louder and more enthusiastically.
Then he said: “All those who are present are good pupils!” One of the Share Nederland group gave her torch to him. He accepted it, but gave it back again, saying: “You are the light and I am the voice. You are a good pupil.” After the meeting three of us talked for a while and the remarkable man joined us, saying that he very often went to Amsterdam pubs to wake people up.
“Are you coming with me?” he asked, but we had to catch a tram. He then talked about the economic crisis, the greed of many and that, as always, the poor suffer worst due to wrong measures.
One of us had recently been pre-occupied by Maitreya’s Message No.72: “My Forces are gathering around Me. My Army strengthens from day to day, and in planned and full array will it march into the Light ...” and “Take your places, My brothers, in this Company of Light ...” She felt that the words evoke the idea of war.
Quite unexpectedly, the man started to explain that it is not a matter of waging war, but of putting up a fight against those who are really waging war. There is often too little counteraction because people are too inhibited by fear and/or modesty. “We must let our voice be heard!”
He talked again about Amsterdam pubs, where he often goes. He said: “I tell them that on 23 August it will be 100 years ago since World War One broke out but the discussion that follows [this remark] is usually rather passive.” The man went on: “Then I say, if we continue as we are there will be a third world war in 2014! Only then do they wake up with a start. This is what we should do: not scare people, but wake them up!”
We would like to ask: Who was this remarkable man with the long, flowing, white hair? And was the unusual photographer someone special?
We present here phenomena which, to the editors, are “signs of hope” and “signs of the time”, but which have not been confirmed by Benjamin Creme’s Master.
We present them for your consideration only, since we cannot now make use of the confirmation and additional information which in the past was always provided by BC’s Master.
On Sunday, 25 June 2023, I went hiking for a little longer than normal for the first time in years (due to illness). My son and his girlfriend had invited me to come with them to the Wolf’s Gorge, a valley in the Mangfall Mountains in Upper Bavaria. I was a bit anxious and excited beforehand about whether I would make the ten kilometres to Wolfsschlucht and back, as the path is not easy. I walked a bit wobbly and unsteadily at first. We stopped at the waterfall and took some photos. On the way back, I was walking much more confidently and my son was amazed. Later, I saw on the photo his partner had taken of us that there was a bright streak of light. I wonder if we got a blessing. At least it felt that way to me. (M.K., Munich, Germany)

Were Maitreya, Benjamin Creme and his Master simply using a homely metaphor when they asserted that ‘humanity is One’? On what is this statement based? It is, after all, an extraordinary and sweeping claim. Many would dismiss it as a sentimental cliché. Is there some way in which we can test its validity? Can we somehow convert this concept into an empirical reality? Do we have any ‘tools’ or means at our disposal that will give us entry into the realms and the reality hinted at in this apparently simple assertion?
I would argue that there are many ways of approaching or experiencing the truth of this profound fact. One of the most important means is tantalizingly close to being understood, proved and revealed to the world at large. What the effect will be on the world, in every walk of life, can hardly be imagined but it is certainly worth trying. Here is what Benjamin Creme’s Master writes, indicating the impact this new knowledge and experience will have in just one crucial area of life which concerns every one of us — health.
Conquering of disease
“Science, today, stands poised to contribute its share to the conquering of disease. The etheric planes of matter await man’s exploration and study. Therein will be found the origin of that dis-equilibrium of forces which manifests itself as the body’s ills. The treatment of disease will take on a new dimension when the function of the force centres (chakras) as receivers and dispensers of energy is understood and when their connection with the major glands of the endocrine system is known. Already, of course, there are those few practitioners who know this and who do valuable work, but not until this knowledge is general shall we see much advance in the understanding of the mechanism of disease.
“It will not be long until this research into the etheric fields begins in earnest. When it does, it will transform the therapeutic situation. The new psychology, the coming science of the soul, will throw much light on the nature and cause of disease and point the way to its prevention. In time, man will learn to approach and work with the deva (or angelic) evolution, many aspects of which are deeply engaged in the healing process.” (Benjamin Creme’s Master, ‘Health and healing, part two’, Share International, November 1982)
There is so much contained in just these two paragraphs but do they help us to truly grasp the full implication of the simple iteration: ‘We are all One’? Is there some means that would enable us to move from the individual to incorporate the collective or our interconnectedness? After all, our world is moving into a new era characterized by the growing tendency towards synthesis, elevating the group experience. …
The etheric body
Citing the Master Djwhal Kuhl (DK): “There is nothing in the manifested universe – solar, planetary or the various kingdoms in nature – which does not possess an energy form, subtle and intangible yet substantial, which controls, governs and conditions the outer physical body. This is the etheric body.” (Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle, Alice A Bailey) More and more people are becoming aware of energies and to many it is almost axiomatic nowadays to say that we live in an energetic universe, and in fact that there is nothing but energy which is consciousness itself and a medium for the transference of thought. This medium is the etheric sea of which we are an intrinsic part. Science is trying to find a way to prove a field of existence which it knows exists. “The next aspects to be studied are the etheric planes, of which there are four. When the etheric planes become a reality for the scientists they will become a reality for everyone. Initially, scientists will probably study the fourth and third, and then the two higher etheric planes. Then they will be able to study thought itself emanating from the astral plane, or the lower and higher levels of the mental plane.” (Benjamin Creme, Share International January/February 1996) …
If the prevailing idea is that humanity really is one interconnected whole, nothing can stay the same. If most or a large segment of the world’s population experiences, or even accepts, that the etheric is real and that we all share that common field of being, then the way we organize our lives politically, socially, and economically, for example, will be radically transformed. Our priorities, our goals, the meaning we give to our lives will rapidly become unrecognizable. If our gradually dawning realization is of a shared divinity or inter-beingness then concepts like karma or the law of cause and effect, which at present may be largely theoretical, become real and instant.
Dr Janice Holden is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Near-Death Studies and President of the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS). She served for 31 years on the faculty of the University of North Texas (UNT) Counseling Program. Her primary research has been on counseling implications of near-death experiences (NDEs), after-death communication (ADC), and other transpersonal experiences. McNair Ezzard interviewed Dr Holden for Share International magazine.
Share International: Some scientists refer to NDEs as hallucinations. What makes the NDE different from a dream or hallucination?
Janice Holden: Near-death experiences are recalled vividly for decades afterwards. There’s been research with near-death experiencers that twenty years ago provided a narrative of their NDE. They were asked again twenty years later to provide a narrative of their experience. It was virtually the same. People remember NDEs for a long period of time in great detail. That’s not characteristic of either dreams or hallucinations. Also, dreams and hallucinations tend to be non-rational. Near-death experiences tend to be more rational, like the unfolding of a story. Most important is that after dreams and hallucinations, when people return to normal consciousness, they look back on them and say, “that wasn’t real”. Whereas near-death experiencers tend to be quite adamant that the experience was as real or more real than normal waking reality. …
SI: Can you talk about the after-death communication part of your work?
JH: My research expanded into looking at after-death communication (ADC) as a topic in itself. The reason is that these experiences, just like near-death experiences, seem to move people in the direction of spiritual development, towards greater love and connectedness, and a sense of meaning and purpose and service to others. By any religious or other standards, this would be considered movement in the direction of greater spirituality. After-death communication also has some very constructive after-effects. Even though after-death communication can happen to people who are not grieving, it happens more often to people who are grieving. The experience tends to really help with grief. Some aspects of grief it doesn’t change. The person is still gone. The survivor has to figure out how to continue in life without them. With questions about how the deceased is doing, in after-death communication, people appear whole and healthy, no matter the circumstances of their physical passing. There’s also the question, will I ever see the person again? Yes, there’s the definite sense that when I die, we’ll be reunited. People get the sense from the ADC that the relationship with the disembodied person is ongoing. …
What’s interesting for me about after-death communication is that it actually occurs quite a bit to people outside the context of a near-death experience. After death communication can happen to a living person in any state of consciousness like waking, sleeping, meditating or daydreaming. …
SI: Can you give me an example of someone who has had an after-death communication?
JH: Yes, there are two. The first one actually combines an NDE and ADC. It’s an after-death communication that occurred during a near-death experience. It was Dr Eben Alexander, who’s a former Harvard neurosurgeon. In his NDE he met a beautiful woman whom he did not recognize, but she conveyed that he was absolutely loved. She was a companion through his near-death experience. By the way, he had been adopted as an infant and after his NDE he reconnected with his family of origin. They sent him a photo of his sister who had died years before he had his NDE. When he got the photo he recognized immediately she was the person who had accompanied him in his NDE. So it ended up being an after-death communication that he didn’t even realize was an after-death communication.
The other example is from the book, Hello From Heaven by Bill and Judy Guggenheim. In the book they talk about a case where a woman is driving home from work one day. And this illustrates that ADCs can occur outside the context of grief. Her father had died ten years before. She’s driving home from work and listening to the radio. Suddenly she hears her father’s voice say to her in a very commanding tone, “Turn right, right here, right now!” She’s at a stop sign. “Turn right! Right here.” It wasn’t the way she normally went home. She’s like, okay, so she turns right. She has to take this long, circuitous route to get to her house. She finally gets home, takes off her coat, pours herself a glass of wine, turns on the TV, and sees that the bridge that she normally crosses on her way home, which she hadn’t gotten to yet, had collapsed. Some cars had driven into the ravine. People had died before anybody realized what was happening. If she hadn’t been diverted from her normal route, she might have been one of those people. In a sense, she was rescued through after an after-death communication from her father.
SI: Do you have any hopes for the field of study of NDEs and ADCS?
JH: Yes. It’s my hope that through the research of organizations like IANDS and other academic researchers, particularly in the Western world, where phenomena like NDEs and ADCs are not really widely discussed, that they become more widely known, so that people can contemplate their implications.
