The futility of war
While printing three articles by Benjamin Creme’s Master may seem excessive we should consider what is happening to the world now. Since war, chaos, annihilation and death seem to be thought of as a valid and justifiable choice, even the government policy of a number of countries, we present these words from a Master of Wisdom in the hope that some readers will respond and help sanity prevail.
When mankind sees, at last, the folly of its present fascination with violence and war, and discards the means to carry out its acts of violence, it will undergo a remarkable transformation. The first signs of this most welcome change in human behaviour can be seen in the millions who now march denouncing war and calling for justice and peace. These demonstrations, spontaneous and worldwide, are a sure indication that mankind is ready to renounce the past, and, when properly led, to change direction. This time is fast approaching.
Amid the trauma and stressful conditions of the present, a new vision of the future is presenting itself to the hearts and minds of millions who, to a greater or lesser degree, respond. Men are awakening to the necessity of peace if mankind is to survive. Few there are who doubt this in their hearts, however much they may be embroiled in war. The stage thus is set for the ultimate choice before mankind.
To the average onlooker, the world is torn and dominated by those who do not share the vision of peace, who see only opportunities for wealth and power in every conflagration. While these are many, the majority of men are tired of the uselessness of war, and seek strategies to put an end to such folly forever. In their hearts burns the hope of a new time of peace and progress for all. These people, in every country, represent the hope of the world.
It is to them that Maitreya will address Himself on His emergence. It is to them that He presents the vision of the future, even now. They, in their many millions, will quickly respond to His advocacy, and set alight the hope of all.
Thus will Maitreya persuade men that further reckless strife is useless and dangerous. That the problems of today are global and cannot be solved by war. That co-operation alone will bring men peace and plenty. That only as brothers, hand in hand, can they enter the new world which awaits their care.
Thus will men decide, and turn back from the abyss. Thus will they demonstrate their choice for life and happiness, and, eyes alight with hope, begin together the task of reconstructing this world.
The time of decision is nigh, almost upon us. Maitreya is ready, eager to show the way, point the new direction. Millions await His counsel and inspiration, wisdom and love. Maitreya will vouchsafe the future for all.

Since mankind has, for the most part, rejected the rule of Law, it has experienced a series of disasters which it has interpreted as ‘acts of God’. These ‘acts of men’ bear little resemblance to the planned evolution of this Earth. When men realize this, they will make a concerted effort to readjust their thinking and actions, and thus set to rights the ‘rule of Law’. Gradually, the rhythm of the Law will impose itself on life and a new harmony and greater equilibrium will result.
To aid this process, a mighty Avatar stands behind Maitreya. The Spirit of Peace or Equilibrium, through the Law of Action and Reaction, pours His cosmic Presence upon the chaos of this world. Men do but dimly, so far, register the impact of this transforming force; nevertheless, the energies of Equilibrium now saturate the Earth. This being so, men can look forward to an extraordinary era of calm, different, indeed, from the turmoil of today.
Within that unparalleled era of peace and calm the new civilization will grow to ever more glorious heights: reaching for the stars, man will conquer space and destroy the illusion of time. The energies of cosmos, today unknown, will be harnessed and put to use. A growing sense of his divinity will drive man to look deeply within, finding thereby the essence of his true identity and his oneness with nature and God. Thus will his environment, no longer abused and prostituted to his ends, flourish and render back the sustenance for all his needs.
Thus will the new civilization represent the next great step in the unfoldment of the Plan. Thus will man regain the momentum of his evolution, lost so long ago. And thus shall We, your Elder Brothers, watch and encourage, warn and protect, and experience the joy of man’s return to the fold. Thus shall it be.
As Maitreya has so often stated: “men must see themselves as One.” This is the essential first step to all future progress; on the fulfilment of that condition everything else depends. The first task of Maitreya and His group will be to show men that this is so, that only then can self-destruction be avoided, that only then can the sleeping potential of man be unleashed for its next and great achievement.
We do not doubt that men will awaken to their Oneness. Underlying all man’s restless striving is the dawning awareness that all must share in the solving of the huge and manifold problems which beset them today; that the responsibility, like the problems, is global and indivisible, and that only through co-operation and self-denial can they adequately be met and overcome.
Maitreya, soon to appear before the world, has the task of opening men’s minds to these truths. Do not doubt His ability and success.

When men engage in war, they endanger not only their own and others’ lives, but also the well-being of the planet on which they depend for life itself. The Earth is plundered recklessly for the metals of all kinds used in the ordnance of death. No thought is given to the needs of future generations who also have the right to the planet’s bounty. Countless millions of tons of twisted, rusting iron adorn the ‘theatres of war’ where men enact their deadly pageantry. Men cannot see, or even imagine, the devastation caused to their subtle bodies by endless hours of bombardment. The unprecedented levels of noise tear and shred these sensitive veils. The human frame is not constructed for such abuse. Thus do they do themselves irreparable harm. How long, therefore, will it take men to realize the futility of war? War solves no problem; it creates only chaos, and halts the progress of man.
Some, few, men, it must be said, relish the act of war. It is, for them, an act of valour, a test of their will and skill, but mainly, today, men are drawn into war for ideological reasons, for the cause. Hence it is the leaders of the nations who hold the reins of power, who legislate for war or peace. They must be carefully chosen to ensure a peaceful world.
Much thought must now be given to this problem. Recent events in the Middle East have shown how simple it is to transgress the Rule of Law and let loose chaos; to rectify the transgression and bring resolution is quite another matter.
Maitreya watches these events with care. He calculates precisely the tensions and their relaxation as they occur and seeks always to establish equilibrium. In this respect, the energies of the Spirit of Peace or Equilibrium, focused through Maitreya, play a vital part. Potent and precise, they are turning the tide of hatred and warring instincts which so trouble the peoples of the nations.
The people themselves are beginning to play their part. Through ballot-box and demonstration they are making their voices heard, their demands for peace known. From this point there is no turning back. The people are sensing their power and are coming to understand that they must make the peace they all desire, and that only when justice reigns with freedom will blessed peace be assured.
This growing understanding will set the scene for Maitreya’s early emergence.

These articles are by a senior member of the Hierarchy of Masters of Wisdom. His name, well-known in esoteric circles, is not yet being revealed. Benjamin Creme, a principal spokesman about the emergence of Maitreya, was in constant telepathic contact with this Master who dictated his articles to him.
Benjamin Creme’s Master points to our, humanity’s, failings and weaknesses while holding out every hope of change, reform, a joyous acceptance of wise advice. He confirms, as always, the importance of taking action together to tackle problems and change the course of history: “The first signs of this most welcome change in human behaviour can be seen in the millions who now march denouncing war and calling for justice and peace.”
His emphasis is on the need to choose — to make a choice for the future, for the good of all and the future of our planet. “Underlying all man’s restless striving is the dawning awareness that all must share in the solving of the huge and manifold problems which beset them today; that the responsibility, like the problems, is global and indivisible, and that only through cooperation and self-denial can they adequately be met and overcome.”
Not only is there a yawning chasm between advice from the Masters and the world’s behavior in general but the gap and total disconnect between the electorate and the politicians appears to be growing. Our leaders seem to live in sound-proof bubbles filled with an unreality and an untouchability guaranteed by Big Money, Big Corruption, and the mainstream media whose strings are also pulled by the same Big Vested Interests. They are certainly not in the interest of the citizen — who must surely be asking what can be done.
In an election year, when so many millions are exercising their right to choose a decent future the hope is that: “Through ballot-box and demonstration they are making their voices heard, their demands for peace known. From this point there is no turning back. The people are sensing their power and are coming to understand that they must make the peace they all desire, and that only when justice reigns with freedom will blessed peace be assured.”
At every lecture he gave around the world, and virtually every day of his life, Benjamin Creme was asked numerous questions covering a vast range of topics. We draw on this large recorded resource and publish answers provided by BC and his Master over the years.
The Second Intifada, or The Second Uprising, was sparked by a provocative act by Ariel Sharon, the-then right-wing Israeli opposition leader. The Second Intifada, also known as the al-Aqsa Intifada because Sharon deliberately visited a Muslim holy site, the al-Aqsa Mosque, lasted from 2000 to 2005 and resulted in the deaths of an estimated 3000 Palestinians and 1000 Israelis. In 2004, John Kerry was a US presidential candidate.
The names have changed, the main characters have moved on, but the issues that continue to be a barrier to any resolution and to stable and sustainable peace still plague our times. Justice for the Palestinians remains elusive and so do autonomy and a viable homeland for Palestinians, with no agreed security for Israelis.
We present here phenomena which, to the editors, are “signs of hope” and “signs of the time”, but which have not been confirmed by Benjamin Creme’s Master.
We present them for your consideration only, since we cannot now make use of the confirmation and additional information which in the past was always provided by BC’s Master.
Russia – While walking on the University Embankment near the Academy of Arts building in Saint Petersburg, Russia on 21 January 2024, a witness reported seeing a bright white oval-shaped object in the sky for about two seconds. As they continued walking the witness then saw the bright white object “similar to the description of ‘flying saucers’” moving in the sky several times: “I watched as an oval of white light appeared for 2 seconds above the Hermitage building and then disappeared, and the same oval appeared again on the right a few seconds later at some distance from the first appearance and also disappeared after 2 seconds.”
They continued, “I looked further into the sky above the Hermitage and saw that under the disappearing ovals of white light many bright small white lights appeared that looked like stars.” The smaller lights appeared for a few seconds and then disappeared. Several minutes later, the bright white oval-shaped object appeared again twice in the sky for about two seconds each time before disappearing. (Source: National UFO Reporting Center)

This, to me, shows that the people are ready for sharing and for the Christ. It shows that they are ready for His words. In this way, as He speaks, He will focus and evoke that demand and aspiration. The goal for humanity in this coming age is the creation of group consciousness, the sense of being integral parts of a Whole. The new energies entering this planet from the constellation Aquarius work in this direction; their intrinsic quality is synthesis, universality.
We are about to witness profound changes in all our institutions and structures — political and economic; religious and social; scientific, educational and cultural. These changes will take place as humanity grasps, stage by stage, its essential Oneness, and adopts the measures necessary to implement that Oneness.
The End of Disease
The Advent of the Christ and the emergence of the Masters of Wisdom will bring an enormous sense of relief and reduction of tension to the world.
The gain in physical and emotional well-being will be considerable. Much of the physical disease in the world today has a psychic cause: the strains, the tensions and fears inherent in our divided society and world. Given true hope for the future, the general health of humanity will improve.
Quite apart from this, new approaches to discovering the causes of disease will be made. The existence of the etheric planes of matter, that is to say, matter finer in substance than gas and normally invisible, has long been postulated, and accepted by esotericists as axiomatic. This is the next area of matter due for investigation by our exoteric scientists. Kirlian photography and the work of Wilhelm Reich have already pointed the way. It will be realized that the health of the physical body depends entirely on the “etheric double” or “counterpart-body”. The force centres (or “chakras” as they are called in the East), which focus the etheric flow, have their counterparts on the dense physical plane in the major and minor glands of the endocrine system. We are just beginning to understand how important to our well-being is the correct, inter-related functioning of the endocrine system. This in turn is dependent on the proper functioning of the vital etheric body which substands it. …
The Master Jesus is described in Initiation, Human and Solar by Alice A. Bailey (published by the Lucis Trust) as follows: “He is rather a martial figure, a disciplinarian and a man of iron rule and will. He is tall and spare with rather a long thin face, black hair, pale complexion, and piercing blue eyes.” He is described as “The Great Leader, the General and the Wise Executive”.
He has been incarnate in a Syrian body for about 640 years, and during most of this time has lived mainly in Palestine. Since 1984, however, he has lived in Rome. The intention is that He will try to raise the Christian churches out of their state of crystallization and rivalry, and if invited to do so, lead a newly united church. By so doing, He hopes to resolve the many contradictions and misunderstandings which have arisen during the course of the centuries about His historic role and the teachings which He disseminated as a vehicle for Maitreya.
In Initiation, Human and Solar, the Master DK says of him: “No-one is so closely in touch with the people who stand for all that is best in the Christian teachings and no-one is so well aware of the needs of the present moment.”

The seemingly paradoxical claim that Jesus and “the Christ” are not the same person, in the literal sense of the word, is easily explained. Those Christians who find it difficult to accept that “their” teacher is not the highest leader of all humanity might be satisfied by a second paradox: Jesus and Maitreya, the Christ were (and are) one, in the sense that they, each on his own level, work together in perfect concord to further the Divine Plan. In Palestine 2,000 years ago, Maitreya used the normal mode for the appearance of the Teacher at any cycle: overshadowing. The process of Jesus’s overshadowing started when Jesus was 12 (which is why he could discuss profound theological ideas with the Rabbis).
When Jesus was 24 the process was more or less complete. From the age of 30 to 33 mdash; that is from the baptism until the crucifixion mdash; Maitreya totally overshadowed Jesus. Sometimes, Maitreya was working through that body alone; at other times, Jesus was working in it alone; at still other times, both Maitreya’s consciousness and Jesus’s consciousness were working through that body. So Maitreya did the teaching, and Jesus was the observer of all that took place through him. Jesus is a Disciple of Maitreya who is the Master of all the Masters.

In a powerful recent [January 2024] article (‘We have a tool to stop Israel’s war crimes: Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions’), Naomi Klein addresses head-on why many Jews — herself among them — and non-Jews alike across the world ‘hesitate’ to criticize Israel in ways that would seem commonplace for any other country: it stems from collective guilt about the trauma of Jews being a target of hate for centuries, culminating in the Holocaust; and the fear of being labelled antisemitic. And, in the 1960s, Israel, with its kibbutzim system, attracted many young people who believed it to be a new and inspiring way of making a society. “The brand Israel has fashioned for itself is that of a scrappy, hip, western outpost in the desert, a little bubble of San Francisco or Berlin that just happens to find itself in the Arab world.”
Klein makes clear that this description is nowadays completely off the mark. She criticizes Israel in no uncertain terms, and deals with the ‘hesitation’: “There is a long and painful history of Jewish businesses and institutions being targeted by antisemites — hateful attacks on Jews as an identity group.” But today, most of these ‘attacks’ on Israel are justified. Klein details how Israel can now be characterized as an apartheid state: “Apartheid is indeed the correct legal term to describe the conditions under which Israelis and Palestinians lead starkly unequal and segregated lives”: the state acts with impunity — that is, with a sense of imperviousness and untouchability that underpins its treatment of Palestinians.
The increasingly right-wing Israel government has borne down on opponents and has made clear its territorial ambition; “The Jewish people have an exclusive and unquestionable right to all areas of the Land of Israel … the Galilee, the Negev, the Golan, Judea and Samaria.” This statement of intent, Klein points out, takes no account whatever of any Palestinian claims to land or any other rights.
Klein takes us back to 2005 when “a huge coalition of Palestinian groups … called on people of conscience all over the world to impose broad boycotts and implement divestment initiatives against Israel similar to those applied to South Africa in the apartheid era. The campaign Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) was born.” BDS is a movement for freedom, justice and equality. It upholds the simple principle that Palestinians are entitled to the same rights as the rest of humanity. It is now a global movement made up of unions, academic associations, churches and grassroots movements across the world. Since its launch in 2005, BDS is having a major impact and is challenging international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.
Today, with Israel’s invasion and destruction of Gaza, Klein argues, it is well past the time to implement BDS in the way the international community sanctioned South Africa, which led quickly and directly to the ending of apartheid. BDS against Israel is clear that it will not target individuals but the organizations and systems that help to keep the oppressive Israel government — and its policies — in place. It is not easy; the Israel government has brought in laws against boycotting and, with outside help, argues Klein, for many years has been able to act with impunity to impose its will and view of itself both internally and externally. “The communications experts who lobby on Israel’s behalf know how to weaponize [their] trauma and invariably cast campaigns designed to challenge Israel’s discriminatory and violent policies as hateful attacks on Jews as an identity group.”
The clear goal was to crush the Palestinian movement for self-determination through force, alongside physical and political isolation.
The BDS grouping has allies within Israel but the Government has been taking steps to disempower them. “In 2017, Israel began barring pro-BDS activists from entering Israel; 20 international groups were placed on the so-called BDS blacklist, including the anti-war stalwart “Jewish Voice for Peace.”
However, and in line with the rest of her work, Klein sees hope even in spite of — or maybe partly because of — these draconian moves. Here she refers again to South Africa in the 1980s where the anti-Government anti-apartheid movement succeeded because world-wide public opinion caused big business corporations to withdraw. Israel is so brutally extreme that Klein believes that will frighten away more organizations, in the end doing harm to itself.

Not too late for all of us to create our own foreign policy from below, one that intervenes in the culture and economy in intelligent and strategic ways — ways that offer tangible hope that Israel’s decades of unchecked impunity will finally come to an end.” (Source: The Guardian, UK)
