Statement by Benjamin Creme’s Master

On 5 October 2016, Benjamin Creme received, via mental telepathy, this special statement from his Master.

“The difficult times are all but over and people should await confidently the New Time, when Maitreya will demonstrate His high Being and all will acknowledge Him as the Master for this time.”

Since the inception of Share International magazine, Benjamin Creme’s Master has provided articles to be published not only at the time they were written, but also whenever appropriate according to world circumstances.

The Promise of the future

by the Master —, through Benjamin Creme, SI May 1992

Every so often, in response to human need, the door is opened which separates Hierarchy from mankind and, to a greater or lesser degree, certain teachings and information are released for the benefit of those who can make use of them. Now is such a time. For those with “eyes to see and ears to hear” these articles constitute one of the ways in which new information can be given at this time, the ancient truths remembered and a new light focused on the perennial values which underlie human evolution.

It has been My endeavour, over the years, to present to the readers of this magazine a picture of the life ahead, to inspire a happy and positive approach to that future and to equip them with the tools of knowledge to deal correctly with the problems which daily arise upon the way. From My vantage point of experience and insight, I have sought to act as “look-out” and guard, to warn of approaching danger, and to enable you, the reader, to act with courage and conviction in service to the Plan.

For many, this has not been a task performed in vain; many have found in My words both inspiration and guidance. Many await, avidly, their monthly libation of truth. Others read calmly, with a distant eye and even more distant mind and heart, while others again are baffled and know not what to think.

In recent articles I have concentrated on the emergence of Maitreya and of Ourselves, His Disciples. This is the central happening of this time, without precedent in untold millennia. The climax of this process is now being reached. Frequently, now, Maitreya appears before many hundreds to inform them of His Presence and to invoke their aid. Soon, these appearances will reach the ears of media and investigation will begin. That investigation will reveal the presence of an extraordinary man, endowed with unusual powers and offering unusual answers to men’s problems and needs.

We stand on the threshold of a new era. Most people today can feel the winds of change which sweep across the world, pointers to the new time. Amid the chaos and the breakdown of old certainties and forms can be felt a new world waiting to be born. A better world. A safer, saner and a fairer world.

My task has been to keep these hopes and plans before you, to inspire your co-operation and active service, to guide your footsteps when they might have faltered, and to awaken in you the realization that you are not bereft and alone.

I am happy to be of this service; I welcome the opportunity to lighten your burden and to hold before you the golden promise of the future.

[This article from Share International magazine, December 2016, is by a senior member of the Hierarchy of Masters of Wisdom. His name, well-known in esoteric circles, is not yet being revealed. Benjamin Creme, a principal spokesman about the emergence of Maitreya, was in constant telepathic contact with this Master who dictated his article to him.]

Dear Reader,
As we, Share International magazine, complete this our 35th year, we have lost the participation of the Founding Editor, Benjamin Creme. For more than 40 years Benjamin Creme faithfully served his Master and Maitreya, the world and the group of co-workers who joined his endeavour. This publication has served, as it continues to do, to give hope, inspiration and information, thanks to the immense insight and wisdom made available to us through the intimate relationship and contact Benjamin Creme had with his Master.

We owe a debt of gratitude to all who have contributed to and worked for the magazine in the past and to those who continue to do so. We would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the essential contribution of those who set the magazine so firmly on it course in its early days and so made possible its continuation.

Our commitment remains undiminished; in effect, our new circumstances have provided us with a new opportunity to assess our work so far and to undertake to redouble our efforts. Benjamin Creme died knowing that he left the work in the hands of all those who for years worked alongside him.

Benjamin Creme died in peace, confident that he had done everything he could to fulfil his task as Maitreya’s “roving ambassador”. His life’s work was complete; he died knowing that Maitreya’s full emergence was imminent and that, therefore, we could be counted on to carry on without him. He also knew that although he would not see the Day of Declaration on the physical plane he would nevertheless “be around”, as he put it, to experience it on another level.

The Emergence of Maitreya the World Teacher and the Masters has already taken place; Maitreya and the Masters have been in the modern world for decades – since 1977. Maitreya, albeit incognito, has already been seen by millions on television and via the internet. We await now His full Emergence into an acknowledged public role. Our information, via Benjamin Creme and his Master, is that that time is not far off. Benjamin Creme’s Master has in the past indicated that the magazine would continue to have His support, and that it would play a role in educating the public in the future. With such an assurance we can only reaffirm our commitment to the work of making known the message of hope to which Benjamin Creme dedicated his extraordinary life.
The Editorial team.

New approach

Many readers and supporters may be wondering how we intend to take the magazine forward, with particular regard to sections of the magazine which required Benjamin Creme and his Master’s information. We are in the fortunate position of having plenty of material already reviewed by Benjamin and his Master. We have always had more material than we have been able to print each month – this applies to the following sections:

Articles by Benjamin Creme’s Master

We will continue to reprint Master’s articles, which are as relevant to the present time - if not more so - as when they were originally published.

Letters to the Editor

Share International has a very large reserve of ‘Letters to the Editor’ which have been processed over the years, but not yet published. We will now be able to use this resource and print the letters some of which were received years ago while others are quite recent. They contain a wide range of personal experiences which have all been confirmed by Benjamin Creme’s Master to be genuine. Readers’ letters describing extraordinary experiences are still welcome. While we cannot confirm them or indicate if a Master is involved, the experience may be such that it ‘speaks for itself’ in providing hope, inspiration and comfort.

Questions and Answers

At every lecture he gave around the world, and virtually every day of his life, Benjamin Creme was asked numerous questions covering a vast range of topics. Groups around the world are busy transcribing the countless recorded questions and answers. We aim to draw from this large source of material and publish answers provided by BC and His Master over the years, none of which have yet appeared in Share International.

In brief, we will continue to publish phenomena, which, to us, are “signs of hope” and “signs of the time”. Fortunately, we have a fairly large stock of phenomena confirmed by BC’s Master. For future unconfirmed signs, we undertake to be as thorough as possible in our investigation of each ‘miracle’ or ‘sign’ but will present them for your consideration only, since we no longer have the confirmation and further information always provided by Benjamin Creme’s Master.

A more detailed explanation of how we will approach each of these sections will be found in the introduction to these sections.

Please note that the questions and answers published in Share International magazine this month, December, were gathered from lectures by Benjamin Creme in Japan in 2009 and Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 2002.

Japan, May 2009

Q. Are the Masters friends with each other?

A. Maitreya and the Master Jesus are particularly close. Remember that the Master Jesus was the vehicle through whom Maitreya worked in Palestine 2,000 years ago and that probably established a particular bond between Them. The Masters know only total unconditional love for all living beings. The Hierarchy is a Brotherhood – the only true brotherhood in existence in the world as yet. The aim of Maitreya is to establish humanity as the brotherhood which it is.

Q. When the Masters appear to people do They sometimes use the same familiar more than once? Could They use the same familiar over and over again?

A. When the Masters appear They do not generally appear as They do in real life. They can take any form They wish, by creating a familiar through which a part of Their consciousness can express itself. When They have finished with it, They dissolve it and that form disappears. Sometimes the Master will use a familiar several times and for a longer period.

Q. Is karma meant to punish us?

A. In our countless incarnations we have all done many good things but also some terrible things. And so we have set in motion effects which stem from those causes. It is not a terrible punishment – karma is a benign law. Nothing is lost, everything is interconnected and so sooner or later everything returns to us. It also works through the other major law – the Law of Rebirth. It offers the opportunity to redress and to nullify the negative karma from the past. The Masters have written that we have actually more good karma than bad. We have to be aware and we must try to be harmless.

Q. Does the influenza virus come from environmental pollution or wrong thoughts?

A. Not from pollution so much as from wrong thought and wrong action. At the end of every period of war and conflict, there are waves of influenza epidemics, sometimes international and sometimes restricted to certain areas. Wars result in stress and tension in humanity; these tensions create conditions of disequilibrium. This in its turn affects all the sub-human lives – elemental lives, and this causes disruption and tension which affects the elementals and brings about extreme weather – floods, droughts, and so on.

Q. What is the right attitude to life to avoid stress and tension which impact climate?

A. Where you have areas prone to cyclones they are exaggerated by our tension and lack of balance and the weather patterns become extreme. There are areas of the planet that are more prone to earthquakes, for instance, Japan and all round the Pacific, and the normal movement of the tectonic plates also gets distorted and exaggerated by the wrong thought of humanity.

Humanity has a tendency to think mechanistically. But the world is a unit, an organic living being; every atom of that being is related to all the other atoms so we have to learn to think in a different way. We must learn to think more organically. The only way to live correctly under the Law of Cause and Effect is organically. We have to understand how to live organically in this space we call planet Earth. Harmlessness is the key.

Q. Is Maitreya older or more advanced than Master Jesus and the Buddha or those who are known as holy people?

A. Maitreya is the Master of all the Masters. The Masters, who are His disciples, are sixth-degree initiates and known as Chohans. The Master Jesus is one of these disciples and would be the first to acknowledge that Maitreya is more advanced than He is. And Maitreya would be the first to acknowledge that the Buddha is more advanced than He, Maitreya is. Until fairly recently they were both at the same level. But the Buddha has now taken a cosmic initiation, which makes him slightly more advanced. When I say the Buddha, I do not mean the Prince Gautama who was a vehicle for the Buddha. Humanity is always making these comparisons! What can it possibly interest you whether Maitreya is a little more or less advanced than the Buddha or the Master Jesus? They are all of them so incredibly high, so far above humanity that these comparisons are ridiculous – just glamour!

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, September 2002

Q. Will Maitreya bring greater focus on the fundamental relationships and practical matters like family, neighbourhood, and so on?

A. Yes indeed, He always does and He already does. We have published through Share International His priorities, His thoughts on family relationships, karma, etc.

He is a practical man, involved in practical problems, our problems. The Masters are no mystics, you know. We are mystics. We do not understand anything, we mystify everything. The Masters are Knowers. Masters of Wisdom. Wisdom is knowledge plus love. And it is the wisdom of living, the practical wisdom of living harmlessly in right relationship that they are concerned about. You will find that Maitreya is so simple you cannot imagine, so humble you cannot imagine. This Spiritual Giant does not go round with His eyes turned up to God. He does not do that. He is involved in life and the relationships of life – that is His concern.

Share International has a very large reserve of ‘Letters to the Editor’, which were reviewed by Benjamin Creme but not published. We will now be able to print these letters, some of which were received years ago while others are quite recent. All experiences described in the letters were confirmed by BC’s Master to be genuine. The first two letters are new and unconfirmed; we present them for your consideration.

Over a number of years, some of the Masters, in particular Maitreya and the Master Jesus, have appeared at Benjamin Creme’s lectures. They also appear, in different guises, to large numbers of people around the world. Sometimes they use a ‘familiar’, a thoughtform, who seems totally real, and through whom the Master’s thoughts can be expressed: They can appear as a man, a woman, a child, at will. Occasionally They use the ‘blueprint’ of a real person, but in most cases the ‘familiar’ is an entirely new creation. More recently the Masters also work through their spokesmen and women and representatives.

These experiences are given to inspire, to guide or teach, often to heal and uplift. Very often, too, they draw attention to, or comment on, in an amusing way, some fixed intolerance to, for example, smoking or drinking. Many times the Masters act as saving ‘angels’ in accidents, during wartime, earthquakes and other disasters. The letters printed here are examples of this means of communication by the Masters.

Please note: In the absence of any indication to the contrary, the editors will assume that your name may be printed. Unless requested otherwise, some of these letters may also be reproduced on the Share International website. Only initials, town and country will be used on the website.

Dear Editor,
Nine years ago, my sister, Annette, gave me a Gardenia plant for my birthday and the following year it flowered profusely at Easter time. It has flowered at Easter every year since then, including this year. At the beginning of October, I noticed a small bud forming and thought it strange, but that it would probably die as it was growing out of season, but it did not and on Sunday 23 October started to bloom, slowly opening its petals and giving off its beautiful scent. After finding out the news about Benjamin Creme’s death on Monday, I noticed that the flower was completely open and the scent was just wonderful. I took a picture. Three days later it had completely faded!

In another incident, the moment I found out by telephone that Benjamin Creme had died on Monday 24 October, I felt grief start to well up inside me and I rushed upstairs to my bedroom to be alone. The emotion was overwhelming and I started to burst into tears. Right then, I heard a comforting voice saying, “I am still here.” That was all, but I immediately felt a strong calming presence and I felt at peace, with no sense of loss.

S.P., Ashurstwood, West Sussex, UK.

Dear Editors,
On the morning of 24 October 2016 I began my personal meditation and about 5 minutes into the meditation, asked the Master if he could please look after Benjamin Creme, who I knew was very ill.

I immediately heard very clearly a voice saying, “He is here with me”. I felt a calmness come over me and knew Benjamin had passed away and was with his Master.

I continued with my meditation and when I finished, I noticed a voicemail on my mobile phone from Benjamin’s family to say he had passed away a couple of hours before.

A.M., London, UK.

Silent presence

Dear Editor,
In spring 1998, I went down to the Lake Léman [Lake Geneva], to a place called Paquis, with a friend who told me that at Paquis there are all kinds of people of all races, a veritable melting pot. In this place I was carried away by the atmosphere and felt fully alive.

We went and sat on the steps at the edge of the water, a swan passed very close to us. A young man sat at the top of the stairs, and asked me for a cigarette. I saw his eyes. I hesitated for a moment, and I wanted to say to him, I know you – very deeply.

He was about 30 years old, with sneakers, jeans, a plain light brown jacket, a thin face, a clear skin and dark hair like a Latin.

I rummaged in my bag. I felt bad that I had not immediately offered him a cigarette. One second later – Have you a light? Again I felt bad that I had not thought about a light – I gave him my lighter.

One moment of silence, in suspense. I watched the water, the swan was there, I exhaled, I felt myself relax deeply. I felt his presence, but when I turned, he had disappeared without my sensing it. His face/eyes emanated a force and presence – which I think about all the time.

That evening looking at the picture of Jesus I saw again the face/eyes of the young man. Then during the week, I thought I had had an important meeting. My thought was that if human beings of such a dimension try to send us messages, a common human being, it’s important to keep our problems in perspective. Was he the Christ?

J. M, Gaillard, France.

(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that the young man was Maitreya.)

Blessings galore

Dear Editor,
This happened on 25 March 2001. I drove to San Francisco to see a movie that I wanted to see. It was afternoon. I then decided to get some money and eat. I was walking along Van Ness in San Francisco towards Market. Several people asked me for spare change. When they do, I always give them some coins and give them my blessing. I like to bless anyone whom I think needs help, that’s anyone begging on the street, anyone whose car has broken down on the road and anyone else I think needs a blessing. Anyhow I encountered two such apparent unfortunates before I reached Market Street. At the intersection of Van Ness and Market, I encountered a man begging who looked as if he could be African or Asian. I only had 11 cents left so I gave that to him followed by my blessing. An Afro-American heavy set woman with lighter skin behind him said: “You’re going to get yours, your blessing, that is.”

Were these people anything out of the ordinary?

H.d.G, Berkeley, CA, USA.

(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that the man was Maitreya, the woman was the Master Jesus.)

Dear Editor,
This occurrence happened in 1999 at Mr Creme’s lecture in Moriguchi City, Osaka. I was late for the lecture but was hurrying to at least make it to the last blessing from Maitreya. I was going up the steps from the subway when this middle-aged man dragging one leg came down the stairs with the biggest smile on his face aimed right at me. I’ve never seen such a smile aimed at me in my life. Was this a special encounter?

K.I., Osaka, Japan.

(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that the man was Maitreya.)

Divine blessing

Dear Editor,
I had a dream on 16 December 2001 that I was travelling in another country and Sai Baba appeared out of a verdant leafy area. He appeared right in front of me and I was filled with joy and wanted to touch his feet. Baba looked small and somehow resembled Maitreya Buddha (Miroku Bosatsu) by the way he was sitting. His feet were emanating platinum light that was flickering. In the dream my friend Funamoto was next to Baba’s feet with a look of joy which I simultaneously felt as well.

Instantly I said to Baba: “I bless you.” And he said, “No, no, no, I bless you,” and put his hand on me. Then he appeared to melt into the ground and disappear. Perhaps I met Baba or could it possibly have been Maitreya?

Y.H., Sydney, Australia.

(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that it was Sai Baba’s blessing.)

Direct contact

Dear Editor,
From 3-6 October 2002 the Geneva Meditation Group had a stand at a health fair in Geneva (exposition MEDNAT). We had two panels on the wall, one with an explanation of what Transmission Meditation is and the other about Maitreya and the Masters of Wisdom.

On the last day I was standing in front of these panels when a tall, good-looking man with longer brown hair, and dressed in a dark coat, came straight towards me. He was already stretching out his arm while walking towards me and shook my hand, asking ‘What’s your name?’ I told him. Then he asked whether I spoke Spanish. I said: “A little, but I can understand it.” He said he came from Brazil and we went on speaking in French. When handing him a folder, I explained that our group meditates every Monday evening in Plan-les-Ouates. Asking where he lived, he replied: “In Chène-Bourg” (an outskirt of Geneva). He then asked me about the cost, to which I replied that it was free, meaning the meditation. I saw him looking at Benjamin Creme’s book Transmission: A Meditation for the New Age in front of us on the table. So I explained that we were not selling any books at this stand, but that Benjamin Creme’s books could be bought at our distributor’s stand, close to ours. After this he left the stand.

Only after having described this event on the phone to a friend (also involved in this work) who said that it might have been someone special, I started to think about the unusual way he came straight towards me, asking me my name without telling me his. I was so impressed by him since all other visitors always stopped in front of the stand waiting for information. Can you please tell me if he was really a special visitor?

E.H., Geneva, Switzerland.

(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that the man was Maitreya.)

Dear Editor,
The other day [written on 6 October 2002] I was walking down Willis Street in Wellington city. It was the lunch-hour and the footpaths were crowded. A man seemed to pop his head out of the crowd as I passed him. He was a Maori and was wearing a different earring in each ear. One earring was a long piece of greenstone and I think the other was bone. He was very distinguished – I think he had a black suit on – and was greying around the sides of his hair. He said “Hello” and smiled at me. I think he winked. He seemed to be very powerful and I had a sense that he expected to see me. I said “Hello” back and we passed each other. Immediately I had a feeling this man was Maitreya. I have been “talking” to Maitreya and felt he was acknowledging me and letting me know that He is hearing me.

M.S., Wellington, New Zealand.

(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that the ‘Maori’ was, indeed, Maitreya.)

We present here phenomena which, to the editors, are “signs of hope” and “signs of the time”. Fortunately, our current stock of phenomena confirmed by Benjamin Creme’s Master is fairly large. However, in future we will also present material which has not been confirmed by BC’s Master. We undertake to be as thorough as possible in our investigation of each ‘miracle’ or ‘sign’ and will present them for your consideration only, since we cannot now make use of confirmation and further information always provided by BC’s Master. Further and more detailed information will be given in the captions to the photographs.

“Increasingly, men are becoming aware that the ‘age of miracles’ has not ended but, on the contrary, waxes strong throughout the world. Recent manifestations have shaken to the core the complacent certainties of millions. Intensive media interest has guaranteed a worldwide audience for future miraculous events which will astonish, even more, believer and sceptic alike. The door has thus been opened through which Maitreya can emerge – and be accepted as the force behind the miracles...

Those engaged in the work of preparation may take courage from the recent worldwide miraculous events, for they presage the imminent appearance of Maitreya before men. Those who have worked to spread the knowledge of His presence will know that their efforts were not in vain; that the world needed their service; that they gave of their best in answer to their heart’s call. They will know, too, that the thanks and love of Maitreya go with them all their days. Miracles abound, and will continue to astonish; the forlorn hopes of so-called scientists and experts will prove of no avail to discount the evidence of men’s eyes. Turning their minds to the hope which these manifestations engender, men will connect them with the wise words of Maitreya, and follow His lead.” (A Master Speaks, November 1995)

Light blessing seen by audience

Share International December 2016 images, Elizabeth Kucinich’s Light blessing seen by audience in the Constitution Garden, Washington D.C., on 22 October 2016.

US democratic politician Dennis Kucinich recently posted this photograph on his Facebook page showing his wife speaking in the Constitution Garden, Washington D.C., on 22 October 2016. He writes: “It is my wife, Elizabeth Kucinich’s birthday today and she celebrated in part at an event in D.C. As she spoke on the National Mall this morning, the audience gasped when she was suddenly bathed in light. Several onlookers took photos with their phones, this being one.

Elizabeth spoke of the persecution of wise women healers through history, how all women carry the pain and scars in their genetics and that we should honor the Great Mother, our mothers and grandmothers through time and acknowledge, ground and release the trauma.” (Source: facebook.com/denniskucinich)

‘Angelic’ cloud

Share International December 2016 images, A video posted by 37-year old American Cory Hearon on his Facebook page, showing an angelic cloud-shape in the clear blue sky over Camden, South Carolina, on 11 October 2016, has received over 9 million views.

A video posted by 37-year old American Cory Hearon on his Facebook page, showing an angelic cloud-shape in the clear blue sky over Camden, South Carolina, on 11 October 2016, has received over 9 million views.

Father of three, Cory Hearon, was outside his wife’s office in Camden, South Carolina, when he saw the cloud. He filmed it for 45 minutes until it disappeared; it remained completely still throughout that time. In the video, Hearon zooms in on the cloud saying: “Nobody would believe me if I didn’t do this live, but I want you to look at this cloud in the sky… Check that out… Is that not an angel or what?”

Interviewed by Inside Edition he recalls: “I almost didn’t video it. It was the first time I had seen something that remarkable with my own two eyes. I was dumbstruck, I was in shock. It is almost like you could see feathers, a face, you could make out some hands.”

Interviewed by People Magazine he said that it was the “most amazing” thing he’d ever seen: “I was in shock for the first two minutes.” He also said that the image helped restore his Christian faith: “I’ve been going through a tough time spiritually. I had just told my wife I was in need of church. I had to resign from my part-time job as a youth minister because of my schedule as a full-time welder. Lately, I’ve been working 60-70 hours a week. This couldn’t have come at a better time and other people seem to agree.”

Many who watched the video, including those in South Carolina who had been traumatized by the recent Hurricane Matthew, saw it as a sign that everything was going to be all right. Hearon cannot believe the number of responses he has received from the video, but said that nothing compares to having seen the cloud in person: “In person, it was perfect. I’m a believer. I’m a Christian. I have seen miracles – there’s miracles in childbirth and everyday miracles. And this blows me away.” He hopes others enjoy the view just as much as he did. We present a selection of quotations on the theme of ‘The need to love’. The quotations are taken from Maitreya (Messages from Maitreya the Christ and Maitreya’s Teachings – The Laws of Life), Benjamin Creme’s Master (A Master Speaks and Share International), and Benjamin Creme’s writings.

My Teaching is twofold: it has to do with man’s physical nature, the necessities of life; it has to do, also, with man’s relationship to that Divine Being Whom we call God. In My vocabulary these are as one, for only in so far as man correctly relates to man does he so relate to God. My plan is to show you this, to teach you that when man discovers in himself the ability to share, to love, to trust, from that moment begins his ascent to God. (Maitreya, from Message No.29)

Here, then, is the cure for all the ills of men: demonstrate love that every man may share the Earth’s abundance. Demonstrate love that wars be seen no more. Demonstrate your soul’s love and bring that day forward when man will be united with man and God.

However he may try, man cannot live without love. This fact will soon establish itself in the consciousness of the race, and lead to events unparalleled in history. Shortly will begin a process of transformation unlike aught seen before: gone for ever the sight of millions starving, the daily heartache of the dispossessed, the everlasting travail of the world’s poor. Gone, from sight and mind, the threat of self-destruction, the unholy terror which has humanity in thrall. Gone, too, the lack of trust which curbs and limits man’s every action and sets him against his neighbour and himself. All of this shall man achieve by demonstrating Love. Through Love shall man conquer and become a God. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘Love – the way forward’)

We are together, you and I, for the same purpose. You, My friends, are here because in your hearts you love all men, feel responsible for the world, respond to human need and long to serve. That, likewise, is My Purpose today. I, too, feel the needs of man, the need of all men everywhere to live and work with dignity and trust. The need to serve conditions My existence. The Love of My heart draws Me to you. We are together therefore, you and I, to serve. (Maitreya, from Message No.102)

The potency of His energy of Love – the ‘Sword of Cleavage’ – has produced the polarization which now exists, and will show clearly the way forward for humanity. Around Him will gather all those who stand for inclusiveness and love, justice and freedom of the human spirit. Those who stand for separativeness and exploitation, competition and greed will likewise stand revealed, and the choice before humanity will be crystal clear: between love and hate, between sharing and greed, peace and war, life and death. The Christ has said (in Message No.11, January 1978): “My heart tells Me your answer, your choice, and is glad.” Responding to His Love energy, people in every country (it is already happening) will form themselves into groups demanding justice and peace and right relations. Soon these groups will become the largest and most potent force in the world, ushering in the new era of peace and goodwill. (Benjamin Creme, Maitreya’s Mission Volume One)

Groups of men are forming themselves on every hand to manifest the new. Inspired by love and the spirit of necessity they envisage a simpler and a saner world. They see that from the imbalances and tensions of the present must grow justice and harmony. They know that they are divine and can perform miracles of change. They sense the needs of the time and dedicate themselves to service. They represent the Good in every land. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘Victory is assured’)

Simple lack of Love is the root of man’s suffering today. Naught but this holds him from the manifestation of his divine potential. All of Godhead exists in man, but without Love naught but suffering ensues. For long, My friends, have you known this; many times before have you heard the need for Love. Nevertheless, that divine aspect is wanting in your lives.

I come to show you the simple Path to God through Love, to teach you the techniques of Love, the way forward through Love and Justice, correct relationship of man to man and thus to God. (Maitreya, from Message No.101)

When Maitreya first announces His plans and hopes for the rehabilitation of the world, His energy of Love – the Sword of Cleavage – will further delineate the divisions which now exist. Men will take sides – for or against the new principles that He will present for the betterment of all. Thus will it be. Thus will a period of discord and discontent precede the acceptance of the new. Gradually, however, even the least sanguine will acknowledge the need for a reconstructed world and add their weight to the task.

There will begin a time unlike aught seen before on Earth. On every hand and at every level the changes will pursue their logical course, cementing in law and principle and form the aspirations of all. Thus will men regain a hold on their destiny and turn away for ever from the abyss. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘Coping with change’)

My dear children, I would like to show you that to love God and to love man are the same; as we love our brothers, so do we manifest our love of God. Theoretically you know this, but, My dear friends, the practice of love is essential, for by Love alone will this Earth be sustained. (Maitreya, from Message No.38)

Christ’s great work 2,000 years ago was to show man that this Love is his very nature. It is the nature of God, and as he is made in the likeness of God, it is the nature of man. He showed, too, that through the demonstration of that Love, man comes to God, comes to know God, not as an old man sitting up in heaven, but in himself, in his brothers, and all around him. He comes to know that really there is nothing else but God whose nature is Love; and that without it there can be no existence. There could be no world.

So that unless we manifest this Love, whose expression is brotherhood, we shall destroy ourselves. This is what the Christ is now saying, and will say.

Love is absolutely fundamental to our nature and without its manifestation we cannot continue to live. It is expressed by right relationship manifesting through sharing and justice for all. (Benjamin Creme, The Reappearance of the Christ and the Masters of Wisdom)

At marches and demonstrations, where the people call for justice, peace and sanity, Maitreya may be found in one or other guise, playing the part of the people and speaking in their name. His energy of love pervades these gatherings of the just and inspires them to further effort. His strength becomes theirs and they feel undaunted and sure. In this way, the Lord of Love is turning the tide of hate, is potentizing the ardour of millions, and is finding that the people everywhere are aware of their destiny and are seeking the means to implement their heart-felt desires. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘The ending of bondage’)

Peace, then, is no longer an option for humanity: it is essential. This understanding is the result of the action of Maitreya’s energy of Love. It is the Sword of Cleavage, outlining clearly the way forward for humanity: through brotherhood, justice, sharing and peace; through freedom, right relationship and all that flows from these. It is either that, or continuing on the way of the present and destroying all life.

Maitreya’s Sword of Cleavage brings this black and white confrontation before humanity so that we see it clearly, sharply, with no woolly edges. We take one side or the other. We take the way of right human relationship, of construction and harmony, on the one hand, or the way of wrong human relations and eventually total destruction for everyone, on the other. (Benjamin Creme, Unity in Diversity)

My brothers, the world longs for Love, for the manifestation of Brotherhood and Justice. Help Me to create in the world that Blessed Joy. Take your place at My side, and work as never before. Help Me, My friends, to create a pool of Love so deep that all men may quench their thirst. (Maitreya, from Message No.116)

He [Maitreya] wants you to give your love to the world, and He comes to inspire you to do it, to awaken in you the love which is inherent in the heart of every human being, but which is frustrated in its expression, largely by the unjust political, economic and social conditions with which we surround ourselves. When these conditions are changed, the love of humanity, inspired by Maitreya, will demonstrate in a way which today you probably could not imagine, and will transform the world. (Benjamin Creme, The Great Approach)

Love is an active force which transforms. Love which does not act is hardly love at all. Love in action is the essence of love. It is an ability to love the world and all that is in it which is the capacity of Maitreya. The deepest desire of the heart of the One who can do that is to unify all. He looks into the world and sees 5.6 billion people: suffering, striving, competing, all the different actions, some positive, some deeply negative. He sees all of that and His urge, His deepest desire, the outflow of His spiritual heart’s need, is to bring all of that together, to unify it all.

… This is His aim, this longing in the heart of the Christ for unity, for using His powers, His insights, to establish His nature, which is love, in the world. In this way He teaches us how to love and, as the Master says, “love again.” To love again is not to love in a normal, reactive sense, but to love totally, unconditionally, in the way that the Masters do. (Benjamin Creme, Maitreya’s Mission Volume Three)

If humanity would know peace it must see itself as One. Nothing less will take it to that blessed state. Peace will be established when justice rules and the poor no longer beg for mercy. Without justice, unity is unthinkable and would forever evade man’s grasp. Establish, then, the rule of justice and bring unity and peace to this anguished world.

Through sharing alone will justice be confirmed. Sharing alone will bring the peace desired by all the nations. When men share and destroy the walls of separation, they will know at last the truth of their existence and flood the world with brotherhood and love. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘The need for unity’)

My purpose is to show men that he need fear no more, that all of Light and Truth rests within his heart, that when this simple fact is known, man will become God. God’s nature is to love. God’s purpose is to serve. God is known through Sharing and Justice. Spread abroad these simple Truths, My friends, and perform a mighty act. (Maitreya, from Message No.98)

The need to love

by the Master —, through Benjamin Creme, June 1986

From time to time, there arises in the minds of men the concept of love. The idea of love as a natural instinct which demands expression engages men’s thought, and steps are taken, through argument and discourse, to demonstrate that this is so. Thus has it been for millennia. The notion that love is somehow central to man’s nature never fails to find adherents. This being so, is it not surprising that so little love finds expression in the day to day activity of men?

Almost without exception, men live in fear. They see the world and life as threatening, and build an armour of defence against these threats. Thus do they limit their capacity to love. Their love atrophies and dies or hides behind aggression and hate. Bereft of love, man sickens. Conscious of his inner worth, unable to call it forth, man projects his fears and hates upon his neighbours and his world.

Where love rules, harmony governs. Without that harmony, naught may proceed with confidence. Failing confidence, little can be achieved. Fear inhibits the expression of love. Love annihilates fear. Seeking to express his love but limited by fear, man loses his way. Lost in the quicksand, his struggles only serve further to entrap him.

Wherein, then, lies the remedy? In order to love, man must trust. Where trust is not, love cannot be. Love arises spontaneously in the trusting heart, for love is the true nature of man. Learn then to trust and demonstrate the love which is ever ready to shine forth. Trust is the acceptance of life in all its pain and beauty. Trust is the sure knowledge that all is working towards the good, that all is under law, and that that law is administered with justice. Learn to trust and banish fear. Banish for ever the mechanism of limitation and open wide the floodgates of love.

When man loves, he draws to himself all possibilities. The magnet of love, through identity of vibration, attracts all requirements. Thus is love the lever of evolution.

Consider a world without love; such hideousness appals the imagination. Why should this be so? Instinctively, man recognizes the need for love and soon will understand the need to love. He will come to know that love links him to all others in an endless chain. Tentatively, perhaps, at first, he will begin to trust. Step by step, he will conquer his fear. Then will he enter into that blessed state where fear has no place, where love sits calmly on its throne, bestowing its grace on all who come near.

For man, then, to live is to love. Fear, the usurper, must be eschewed and overcome. Trust engenders love and destroys that fear, revealing the god who dwells for ever within. Trust and faith are one, reflections of the inner divinity. Trust that divinity, allow it to radiate as love, and know the end of fear.

“Currently there is in the world a group of wise individuals showing humanity the new situation. Among others, Pope Francis is a unique expression of the people’s ideal, and close to his people. The Dalai Lama, too, is playing a powerful role on behalf of the people he represents.

Never before has such a group of gifted representatives been gathered together at one time to show humanity that all is well, and that men everywhere have little time to wait to see the fulfilment of their dreams. They bless each day that passes and brings their love close to the hearts of men everywhere.

Love them too in return and embrace them in the name of the Coming One. Turn your fears into loving expectation and await the new time in the bliss which is yours by right. It is not long, not long until you see the wonder of His face, until you know the joy of His presence and His love for all. Then you will know why you are in incarnation at this special time.

God bless you and forever banish your fears.”

Pope Francis calls for peace among religions and religious freedom

Pope Francis

At an interfaith gathering at the Vatican on 3 November 2016, Pope Francis reflected on the soon-to-end Year of Mercy, saying that mercy extends also to the world around us, “to our common home, which we are called to protect and preserve from unbridled and rapacious consumption….”

“The mystery of mercy is not to be celebrated in words alone,” he said, “but above all by deeds, by a truly merciful way of life marked by disinterested love, fraternal service and sincere sharing…. The theme of mercy is familiar to many religious and cultural traditions, where compassion and nonviolence are essential elements,” he said.

“To bow down with compassionate love before the weak and needy is part of the authentic spirit of religion, which rejects the temptation to resort to force, refuses to barter human lives and sees others as brothers and sisters, and never mere statistics. To draw near to all those living in situations that call for our concern, such as sickness, disability, poverty, injustice and the aftermath of conflicts and migrations: this is a summons rising from the heart of every genuine religious tradition. It is the echo of the divine voice heard in the conscience of every person, calling him or her to reject selfishness and to be open. Open to the Other above us, who knocks on the door of our heart, and open to the other at our side, who knocks at the door of our home, asking for attention and assistance….”

He continued: “In today’s ever more hectic and forgetful world, which leaves so many men and women behind as it races on, breathlessly and aimlessly, we need the oxygen of this gratuitous and life-giving love. We thirst for mercy and no technology can quench that thirst. We seek a love that endures beyond momentary pleasures, a safe harbour where we can end our restless wanderings, an infinite embrace that forgives and reconciles.”

“Forgiveness is surely the greatest gift we can give to others, because it is the most costly. Yet at the same time, it is what makes us most like God.”

Speaking on the environment, he said: “Our commitment is needed for an education to sobriety and to respect, to a more simple and orderly way of life, in which the resources of creation are used with wisdom and moderation, with concern for humanity as a whole and coming generations, not simply the interests of our particular group and the benefits of the present moment. Today in particular, ‘the gravity of the ecological crisis demands that we all look to the common good, embarking on a path of dialogue which requires patience, self-discipline and generosity’”. (Laudato Si’, 201)

The Pope concluded with a plea for tolerance and mercy: “May this be the path we take. May we reject the aimless paths of disagreement and closed-mindedness. May it never happen again that the religions, because of the conduct of some of their followers, convey a distorted message, out of tune with that of mercy. Sadly, not a day passes that we do not hear of acts of violence, conflict, kidnapping, terrorist attacks, killings and destruction. It is horrible that at times, to justify such barbarism, the name of a religion or the name of God himself is invoked. May there be clear condemnation of these iniquitous attitudes that profane the name of God and sully the religious quest of mankind. May there instead be fostered everywhere the peaceful encounter of believers and genuine religious freedom. Here, our responsibility before God, humanity and the future is great; it calls for unremitting effort, without dissimulation. It is a call that challenges us, a path to be taken together, for the good of all, and with hope.” (Source: radiovaticana.va, Pope Francis’ address to Representatives of Different Religions, 3 November 2016.)

Pope condemns growing animosity between people

On 19 November 2016, the Pope addressed newly-created Cardinals at the Vatican.

“Ours is an age of grave global problems and issues,” he said. “We live at a time in which polarization and exclusion are burgeoning and considered the only way to resolve conflicts. We see, for example, how quickly those among us with the status of a stranger, an immigrant, or a refugee, become a threat, take on the status of an enemy. An enemy because they come from a distant country or have different customs. An enemy because of the colour of their skin, their language or their social class. An enemy because they think differently or even have a different faith…. And, without our realizing it, this way of thinking becomes part of the way we live and act. Everything and everyone then begins to savour of animosity. Little by little, our differences turn into symptoms of hostility, threats and violence. How many wounds grow deeper due to this epidemic of animosity and violence, which leaves its mark on the flesh of many of the defenceless, because their voice is weak and silenced by this pathology of indifference! How many situations of uncertainty and suffering are sown by this growing animosity between peoples, between us! Yes, between us, within our communities, our priests, our meetings. The virus of polarization and animosity permeates our way of thinking, feeling and acting. We are not immune from this and we need to take care lest such attitudes find a place in our hearts, because this would be contrary to the richness and universality of the Church, which is tangibly evident in the College of Cardinals. We come from distant lands; we have different traditions, skin colour, languages and social backgrounds; we think differently and we celebrate our faith in a variety of rites. None of this makes us enemies; instead, it is one of our greatest riches.” (Source: w2.vatican.va. ‘Behind our anxiety, the fear of being unneeded’

“In the United States, Britain and across the European Continent, people are convulsed with political frustration and anxiety about the future… This speaks to a broader human truth: We all need to be needed. Being ‘needed’ does not entail selfish pride or unhealthy attachment to the worldly esteem of others. Rather, it consists of a natural human hunger to serve our fellow men and women. As the 13th-century Buddhist sages taught, ‘If one lights a fire for others, it will also brighten one’s own way.’

“... We need to make sure that global brotherhood and oneness with others are not just abstract ideas that we profess, but personal commitments that we mindfully put into practice.

“Many are confused and frightened to see anger and frustration sweeping like wildfire across societies that enjoy historic safety and prosperity. But their refusal to be content with physical and material security actually reveals something beautiful: a universal human hunger to be needed. Let us work together to build a society that feeds this hunger.”

His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit to Japan — On peace

“Peace is not a mere absence of war or violence – it’s deeper than that. What leads to inner peace is cultivating a compassionate heart. It is developing inner peace that creates peaceful individuals, communities, and a peaceful humanity. We talk about a demilitarized world, but first need to achieve inner disarmament. Although I may not see it in my lifetime, I am convinced that if we make a serious effort now, the world could become a more peaceful place in the latter part of the 21st century.” (Kyoto, Japan, on 9 November 2016. Source: dalailama.com)

‘The potential of today, the potential of tomorrow’

“You are the basis of our hope. Past is past; no one can change what happened. But in the future there is still hope, possibility…in the next 30 or 40 years, yours is the generation that can make a significant contribution to a more harmonious world…. Even trouble-makers, after all, are born to mothers and ‘raised with the seed of compassion’. Schools should therefore attend not just to material values but to inner values…. Not through religion, but through common sense, common experience and scientific findings…. The first thing is to develop peace of mind. And then spread it among your friends and family. And then, slowly and steadily as you grow in your profession, whatever that might be, it will help. Even in politics!” (Address by the Dalai Lama to Setagaya Junior High School in Tokyo, Japan, on 16 November 2016. Source: dalailama.com)

On compassion

“I see great potential in promoting love and compassion through education. I’m not trying to propagate Buddhism; I only want to spread the message of the fundamentally compassionate nature of human beings. Every different religion has different ideas and philosophies, but all of them agree on the importance of love and compassion.” (‘Clarity in the Mist’ talk by the Dalai Lama to the Shingon sect of Buddhism in Koyasan, Japan, on14 November 2016. Source: dalailama.com)

Unification, union, oneness

“There’s no reason to be demoralized. Some bad things may be there, but there are many reasons to be happy and grateful…. As the Buddha said, ‘You are your own master.’ So long as you say, ‘I give up,’ you can’t do anything at all. But so long as you recall the potential of the mind, so long as you study and listen and turn to the abiding sources of wisdom, you will never forget that you can do almost anything at all.” (Public talk by the Dalai Lama on ‘Compassion: the key to happiness’ in Yokohama, Japan, on 17 November 2016. Comments on possible effects of US election on the environment

From climate activists

Annie Leonard, Executive Director, Greenpeace USA – “Fear may have won this election, but bravery, hope and perseverance will overcome. Greenpeace and millions of people around the world have all the power we need to combat climate change and create a just world for everyone. Let’s use this moment to re-energize the fight for the climate and the fight for human rights around the world.”

Jean Su, Center for Biological Diversity – “The Paris Agreement was signed and ratified not by a president, but by the United States itself. One man alone, especially in the twenty-first century, should not strip the globe of the climate progress that it has made and should continue to make. As a matter of international law, and as a matter of human survival, the nations of the world can, must and will hold the United States to its climate commitments. And it’s incumbent upon US communities to unite and push forth progressive climate policies on a state and local level, where federal policy does not reign.”

Michael Brune, executive director, The Sierra Club – “No matter what happens, Donald Trump can’t change the fact that wind and solar energy are rapidly becoming more affordable and accessible than dirty fossil fuels. With both the market and grassroots environmental advocacy moving us toward clean energy, there is still a strong path forward for reducing climate pollution even under a Trump presidency.”

May Boeve, executive director, 350 Action “Our work becomes much harder now, but it’s not impossible, and we refuse to give up. Together, we will put everything on the line to protect the progress we’ve made and continue to push for bold action. We refuse to leave the future of our climate in Trump’s hands. Now is the time to take a deep breath and fight like never before.”

Erich Pica, President, Friends of the Earth US – “We will have to harness our new energy, join together and use every strategy possible to fight against hate and greed and environmental destruction. While I wish we had a different fight before us, we must fight the one presented to us. The future of our country and planet depends on it.”

Naomi Klein, environmental author and activist –“Outside the US, we need to start demanding economic sanctions in the face of this [Paris Agreement] treaty-shredding lawlessness … And I believe there has to be an international response that’s very, very swift. You have to send a signal that you cannot trash these hard won, hard negotiated international treaties and face no consequences.”

Bill McKibben, environmental author and activist, and founder of 350.org “Movements are how people organize themselves to gain power – enough power, in this case, to perhaps overcome the financial might of the fossil fuel industry. Movements are what can put a price on carbon, force politicians to keep fossil fuel in the ground, demand subsidies so that solar panels go up on almost every roof, not just yours. Movements are what take 5 or 10 per cent of people and make them decisive – because in a world where apathy rules, 5 or 10 per cent is an enormous number. Ask the Tea Party. Ask the civil rights movement…. when people ask me what can I do, I now say the same thing every time: The most important thing an individual can do is not be an individual. Join together – that’s why we have movements like 350.org or Green for All, like BlackLivesMatter or Occupy. If there’s not a fight where you live, find people to support, from Standing Rock to the Pacific islands. Job one is to organize and jobs two and three….”

“The Trump presidency comes at a moment when we could least afford it. It’s not like we were winning the climate battle before, but we were beginning to make at least a little progress. There was beginning to be the kind of ramp-up of renewable and clean energy in this country and around the world. The world managed a year ago at Paris to do something, anyway, for the first time, about climate change. Now we’re going to hit not a pothole, but a ditch in the road. The thing to remember about climate change is it’s not as if we can just pick up four years from now where we left off. Physics is our enemy, and it imposes a difficult time limit here. We don’t have any more presidential terms to waste. So we’re going to have to figure out, as a nation and, maybe more importantly, as a planet, how to work around Trump, to one degree or another.”

From government officials, climate scientists

Chen Zhihua, Chinese delegate at the COP22 Climate Change conference in Morocco, official in the climate change division of the National Development and Reform Commission“Action by the international community will not stop because of the new government of the United States. We still have confidence the international community will join hands and continue our efforts on climate change…. No matter what happens in the new US government, China will continue to constructively participate in the international climate change process.”

Vermont Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders “What we have got to tell Mr Trump and everybody else: We are not going silently into the night. The stakes are too high for the future of this planet. We are going to be smart. We’re going to educate. We’re going to organize. We’re going to bring tens of millions of people, moms and dads and their kids, together, to tell the fossil fuel industry that their short-term profits are not more important than the future of our planet.”

US Secretary of State John Kerry “For those in power in all parts of the world, including my own, who may be confronting the decisions about which road to take at this critical juncture, I ask you, on behalf of billions of people around the world … to see for yourselves. Do your own due diligence before making irrevocable choices.

“… Climate change shouldn’t be a partisan issue in the first place…It isn’t a partisan issue for our military leaders…It isn’t a partisan issue for our intelligence community…No one has a right to make decisions that affect billions of people based on solely ideology or without proper input.

“… And no one should doubt the overwhelming majority of the citizens of the United States who know climate change is happening and who are determined to keep our commitments that were made in Paris.”

Francois Hollande, President of France “The United States, the most powerful economy in the world, the second-largest emitter of greenhouse gases, must respect the commitments that were made. It’s not simply their duty, it’s in their interest.”

“To aid men in their task, the Christ has formulated certain priorities. They cover the essential needs of every man, woman and child. The first priority is an adequate supply of the right food. Secondly, adequate housing and shelter for all. Thirdly, health-care and education as a universal right.”

Benjamin Creme’s Master, January 1989.

In this section, Share International addresses problems in the areas of Maitreya’s priorities, and also identifies related plans, solutions and projects.

Search-and-rescue in the Mediterranean more dangerous than ever

MOAS (Migrant Offshore Aid Station) is a search-and-rescue charity currently operating with two vessels, Phoenix and Responder, in the Central Mediterranean. The 2016 mission was launched on 6 June in partnership with the Italian Red Cross. Share International publishes their latest press release, 16 November 2016.

Despite tireless efforts to save lives by both civil society and European navies, MOAS crews are witnessing search-and-rescue efforts in the Mediterranean becoming more challenging than ever.

The number of deaths in 2016 has risen to almost 4,300 exceeding death tolls of past years. While the number of people crossing the Mediterranean as a whole has decreased when compared to previous years, it must be noted that the number of people attempting the Central Mediterranean route – from Libya to Italy – has remained largely unchanged.

MOAS has seen its humanitarian efforts overwhelmed this year, largely due to the changing approach of smuggling networks. Whereas in past years, crossings were organized in more manageable trickles, perhaps a few a day, this year our crews have seen departures organized in large waves.

MOAS research and analysis suggests that this change in approach might be both an attempt to maximize opportunity and meet demand on the part of the smugglers. The smuggling networks appear to be industrializing, with increased competition representing a new challenge for them in procuring enough rubber boats, engines, and fuel containers to meet the demand. This is leading to unprecedented numbers of migrants and asylum seekers being placed on unseaworthy rubber boats. “The combination of heavier loads and inferior quality is a recipe for disaster,” said MOAS Head of Operations Ian Ruggier. “Rescue assets have had to deal with increased challenges. There is no doubt that the vessels are built to last a few miles to see people beyond Libyan territorial waters.”

As a result, it is almost certain that the true death toll is much higher than the recorded figure as it is highly likely that many boats sink without ever being reported. It is now more challenging for rescuers to spot all the boats being sent in one wave, and then manage to rescue everyone. There have also been incidents in which our crews have spotted vessels at night that had been at sea since the early morning, suggesting many other migrant boats may go unnoticed.

Over 30,000 people have already been saved since MOAS launched its first life-saving mission in 2014, and almost 19,000 have been rescued and assisted since June 2016 alone.

“Crossings in the Mediterranean will not be stopped by creating more borders or building walls and fences. There is no force-based solution to migration. People will always find a way to come to Europe. There is an urgent need to manage the phenomenon rather than try to hide behind razor wire. For this to occur European leaders must stand up and be counted”, said MOAS director Pete Sweetnam.

MOAS continues to call for the creation of safe and legal routes to end the needless loss of life at sea and to guarantee protection and dignity for human beings in search of a better life. (Source: MOAS)
