Maitreya’s priorities are the same as the world’s priorities. What would it take to ensure a planet that can sustain all life, and a decent life for all? Current global crises are laying bare the flaws in our national and international structures; it is dawning on humanity that a radical re-definition of our collective values is urgently needed. What is required is nothing less than the total transformation of all our systems — political, economic and social.
The most urgent priorities
It is because enough people are ready for change and willing to take action that Maitreya and the Masters — now present in the world — can advocate new norms which, when implemented, will guarantee human rights and the rights of all life on our planet. It will be seen as urgently necessary to enshrine in law and by common consent: the health and viability of the Earth, the equitable redistribution of the world’s resources, and access to an adequate supply of food, housing, healthcare and education for every citizen of the planet. These simple and necessary priorities cover the basic needs of all people everywhere, as broadly outlined in Article 25 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and they will become the main responsibilities and focus of governments worldwide.
Maitreya will recommend the urgent implementation of these essential requirements, without which a stabilized world is not possible. The most urgent of these priorities is the elimination of hunger; millions starve, despite there being a surplus of food in the world. Maitreya will teach that we are a global family, and encourage us to feed the hungry, rehabilitate the poor, and transform our economic systems so that all can live decent, dignified lives.
The key to solving our global issues, Maitreya says, is sharing. This principle of sharing is essential, as on it rests justice, and without justice there will be no peace. It will be found that once this important first step is taken all other problems humanity faces will be more easily solved. Once massive aid has been given to the poorest areas of the planet, the redistribution of the world’s resources according to need — including food, raw materials, energy and technology — is recommended, until a more equitable balance is achieved.
Restoring the planet to health
To these basic human rights must be added immediate and far-reaching action to halt climate change and ecological destruction. In fact, a worldwide campaign to restore and protect our planet and its resources must be seen and accepted as the major focus of the world’s governments and people. The climate emergency has become the number one priority; it is clear that if our planet becomes unviable, it can no longer sustain life. To save, protect and heal the Earth requires the creation of economic systems based on the principles of sustainability and sufficiency, rather than the present system of overproduction, waste and endless growth. The aim will be to meet the needs of all while restoring the planet’s health.
Political freedom
Maitreya’s priorities also include the establishment and maintenance of human freedom. Countless numbers are imprisoned for the crime of independent thought. The World Teacher will emphasize the need for human liberty without which human beings are held back in their development.
The choice is humanity’s
Simple as these steps appear to be, put into practice they will have far-reaching effects, and usher in a new era in which we will all reach our full creative and spiritual potential. Maitreya will present us with these alternatives: carry on as we are today, where financial profit is seen as more important than the rights of people and the planet, and through greed and competition destroy ourselves; or accept that we are one, implement the principle of sharing, recognize the need for international cooperation and create a just and peaceful world. The future ahead for humanity depends on the decisions we make today. With Maitreya’s inspiration and guidance we have the opportunity to construct the most brilliant and wonderful civilization this planet has ever known.
Each man is a lighthouse and sheds abroad his light for his brother. Make bright your lamp and let it shine forth and show the way. All are needed, every one. No one is too small or young to take part in this great Plan for the rescue and the rehabilitation of our world. Resolve to do this and be assured that My help will not be withheld.
