The information on this website draws on the Ageless Wisdom Teaching. This presents a complex and systematic worldview that is quite different from both western scientific, secular thinking and from traditional religious ideology. As a body of teaching it has existed for millennia and has informed ancient scriptures from all the world’s major religions. It forms the basis of modern esoteric philosophy including Theosophy, as introduced by Helena Blavatsky, and the teachings of the Master Djwhal Khul through the works of Alice A. Bailey. Benjamin Creme brought this teaching up to date in his work for the emergence of Maitreya the World Teacher. “The Ageless Wisdom Teaching … is not a religion. It is not strictly speaking a philosophy; it is not an art or a science, but it has something of all these.” (Benjamin Creme, The Ageless Wisdom Teaching)
The Ageless Wisdom is underpinned by some basic assumptions:
A non-materialistic view of life
There is more to life than the phenomenal, material world. This might be simply expressed as: ‘everything is energy’.
The inter-connectedness of all life
Human beings are an intrinsic part of a whole, of all life, one divinity. Planet Earth is a living entity, which we must care for in the same way as we must care for other human beings because we are all a part of each other.
All aspects of life are spiritual
All aspects of life are spiritual, including the social, the economic, the political and concern for the environment. Religions have no monopoly over God, or Divinity — the divine energy that is everywhere. All those working to bring about a better world are also expressing divine intent. Likewise, every effort on the part of the individual to advance in any way, essentially signals a spiritual aspiration. Alice Bailey describes this well: “The word ‘spiritual’ does not refer to religious matters, so-called. All activity which drives the human being forward towards some form of development — physical, emotional, mental, intuitional, social — if it is in advance of his present state is essentially spiritual in nature and is indicative of the livingness of the inner divine entity.” (Alice A. Bailey, Education in the New Age)
The fact of reincarnation
Reincarnation or rebirth is a fact in nature. We are all souls in incarnation, all a spark of divinity. A part of ourselves, our soul, does not die but repeatedly comes into a new body, lifetime after lifetime. Divinity involves itself in matter and progresses through countless incarnations, to a more developed or evolved state of consciousness. Consciousness continues after death and is not dependent on a physical body. We begin at a very basic level of human expression. Through the experiences of countless lifetimes, we learn many lessons. The qualities acquired in each lifetime are carried over to the next. While we are all equal as souls in incarnation, some have progressed further in their evolutionary journey.
The fact of telepathy
Telepathy is a fact in nature. It is the natural result of humanity’s Oneness. Many people experience flashes or hints of telepathy in their daily lives. In the Ageless Wisdom Teaching telepathy is taken for granted as a natural faculty of the human being. Benjamin Creme had a continuous telepathic rapport with his Master, a Master of Wisdom, which enabled him to inform the world about the emergence of Maitreya.
“Everyone is naturally telepathic…. Eventually, telepathy…will become the norm.” (Benjamin Creme, The Great Approach)
The Age of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius, the so-called ‘New Age’, has come. Each new age of about 2,000 years, brings in a new type of energy which influences our lives. We are now at the beginning of a new age, the Age of Aquarius which follows the previous Age of Pisces. An astronomical occurrence, each age ushers in new energies that impact everything in our societies and are reflected in the institutions of that period. The Age of Pisces, which began at the time of Jesus’ birth in Nazareth, led to the development and encouragement of the characteristics and awareness of human individuality. Thus all the institutions of the past 2000 years have reflected the importance of the individual as a necessary phase in the evolution of consciousness. As the next step in man’s progress, the energies of Aquarius foster group synthesis and find expression through humanity’s conscious awareness of the group, along with grounded idealism. This can be seen in the current development of groups worldwide working to voice the concerns of our time, through mass protest and action. The many tensions and struggles the world is presently witnessing mark the clash of civilisations that the transition from one age to another inevitably brings.
