In Belgium there are countless reports of UFO sightings that occurred in late March. According to the Belgian weekly publication HUMO, the national airforce has drawn up a ìfrankly spectacularî report. According to the report, three ground-to-air tracking stations and two F-16 fighter planes simultaneously observed flying objects moving at very high speed. HUMO: ìThe airforce excludes all possibility of this being an optical illusion or confusion with spy planes. According to their report the flying objects could not have been hot air balloons, weather balloons, atmospheric disturbances, holographs or laser projections.î
 

At a press conference in Brussels, a colonel of the Belgium airforce showed pictures of the radar observations. According to Trouw, a Dutch daily newspaper, the colonel said that the two fighter plane pilots, without actually seeing the UFOs, managed to follow the ìobjectsî through radar contacts for three-quarters of an hour.

However, each time the ìobjectsî were located on the radar, they changed direction and speed. At one point, he said, one of the UFOs accelerated within a few seconds from 140 to 1,100 miles per hour.
